"Your calm nature, sense of humour and a real sense of being listened to make you a natural mediator."

RM, Client

"He employed his mediation skills to excellent effect and is always my first choice if mediation is needed. He succeeded in bringing two parties to agreement in a seemingly unresolvable and complex situation involving legislation, procedures and challenging personalities."

Simon Horne

Simon's distinctive approach is to use empathy and tenacity to focus on resolution: he works closely with everyone involved, including your legal advisors, so that you find and agree a constructive and lasting outcome.

He's been working in mediation in local communities and in the workplace since 2001.  In 2015 he formalised his experience with the Post Graduate Certificate in Mediation at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.  Since 2015 he has facilitated more than 130 mediations.

He’s a workplace and family mediator practising in both Scotland and England.  He is uniquely qualified to practice as a family mediator in Scotland as well as in England and Wales as he is accredited with the Family Mediation Council (FMCA) and with Relationships Scotland (CFMR).  In March 2022 he completed the University of Strathclyde accredited training as a Specialist Paralegal in Family Law.  Along with the FMCA qualification, this enables Simon to work with clients in Scotland who are using mediation to resolve their financial arrangements as well as clients in England and Wales.  He is also a registered practitioner with Scottish Mediation and a member of the Family Mediators' Association.

He works closely with your legal advisors, promoting a constructive and team approach that considers the needs of the whole family.

In addition, he's an accredited investigator of harassment and bullying complaints in the workplace, with an in-depth understanding of the range of pressures that people at work experience at all levels.

A particular area of expertise is working with Armed Forces personnel, both currently serving and veterans.  Simon has served in the Royal Navy and is currently as a Reservist a member of the Royal Navy's mediation and complaints investigation team.
